The note on the report card from my second grade teacher, Miss Kleinsasser, read "lacks focus." That observation is still true today. I tend to have a variety of projects in multiple media and styles all going at once. It is just how my brain works. I also find that stepping away from one project to work another allows my mind to clear so that when I come back it is with fresh eyes. Underneath it all lies one consistency, my process. My process is to subtract and reduce information/imagery to what I feel is the bare minimum to convey a message, an emotion. If something can be taken away without debtriment it is unneccesary. I listen to my gut. As Niel Young said, "You gotta go where the music takes you."
For the past twenty plus years I have been working as a graphic designer. I have been living in Boise, Idaho almost that long and love the place and people. Just in the past few years have I began to pursue my own artwork. I am enjoying the work immensely and hope to make a living at it someday.
